Novak Djokovic Tennis Racket Reigns Supreme in Season Finale
Novak Djokovic won the Mubadala World Championship with victory over David Ferrer while Rafael Nadal defeated Roger Federer in the third-place match.
The Serb, world No.1 after a brilliant 2011, beat Ferrer 6-2 6-1 in the final of the six-man hardcourt invitational event.
Djokovic raced 3-0 up on No.5 Ferrer, who then found his feet but could not stop his rival taking the first set with ease.
Djokovic broke his Spanish opponent to take a 2-0 lead in the second. Ferrer held his next service game but that was all he managed as ‘Nole’ ended the year in typically sensational fashion.
Nadal, who was crushed in straight sets by compatriot Ferrer in his semi-final, won in straight sets 6-1 7-5 against Federer.
World No.2 Nadal dominated the opening set, with Federer’s solitary game coming at 3-0 down, but the Swiss Master made more of a fist of it in the second.
The No.3 led 4-3 but was broken to put Nadal 6-5 up – and he served the match out.
Federer – who like Nadal received a bye to the semis – also lost heavily in his last-four contest against Djokovic, bringing to an end the Swiss’s 17-match winning streak. Click here to visit the original source of this post
